Destiny 2: How to Beat The Corrupted GM Nightfall (2024)

The Corrupted Nightfall is one of the most challengingGrandmasteractivities featured in Season of the Hauntedthat Guardians will need to beat inDestiny 2. The Grandmaster version of The Corrupted Nightfall has not been available to complete sinceSeason of the Lost, and many of the weapons, class builds, and armor mods that are most useful for the activity have changed in that time. Fortunately, it may be easier now than ever to complete The Corrupted thanks to the increased effect of the Resilience character stat in Destiny 2, the new Stormchaser Linear Fusion Rifle, and the Overload Trace Rifles mod.

Because The Corrupted features many Taken enemies, the Epitaph mission modifier is something that Guardians need to keep an eye out for. While Epitaph is active, Taken combatants generate blight geysers whenever they're defeated. This can make or break any fireteam in a Grandmaster Nightfall, so players should keep their distance from any Taken mob. Additional mission modifiers like Chaff, Match Game, Equipment Locked, and Limited Revives are also active, in addition to traditional Grandmaster Nightfall effects like Champions Mob and Shielded Foes.

While Overload and Unstoppable Championsare featured in The Corrupted, the Shielded Foes mission modifiers present combatants with Arc, Solar, and Void Shields. In the past, this particular modifier meant that the fireteam needed to build their loadouts so all three enemy-shield types could be dealt with. Now, weapons like the Pointed Inquiry or Staccato-46 in Destiny 2that have Adaptive Munitions will allow Guardians to deal additional damage to enemy shields that have an elemental type different from the weapon itself. Furthermore, both of these particular Scout Rifles can deal with Unstoppable Champions and combatants at a distance, making them perfect options for The Corrupted Grandmaster Nightfall.

Destiny 2: Tips, Tricks, & Strategies For The CorruptedGM

Destiny 2: How to Beat The Corrupted GM Nightfall (1)

The Corrupted has a few different sections where many enemies will be present in a small space, so a fireteam may want to consider playing back on stairs or platforms with cover to maintain a safe distance. The two encounters that may give the fireteam the most trouble are the double ogre arena and the final boss. When facing the Hive and Taken Ogres, the fireteam should consider defeating the Taken Ogre and those enemies last since there are far fewer enemiesin the Taken realm than in the real world. A Solar Titan build with the Loreley Splendor Helmwill help ensure that Guardians can clear out red-bar enemies quickly in this encounter while increasing the Guardian's survivability.

Likewise, while facing the final boss of The Corrupted, the fireteam should have at least one Guardian that can use their super to quickly dispatch enemies, such as the aforementioned Titan build or a Stasis Warlock. With the addition of the Osmiomancy Gloves, Stasis Warlocks can now bring two invaluable Stasis turrets to each encounter in The Corrupted. Additionally, when enemies need to be cleared out quickly, the Shadebinder Super works wonderfully as all of the enemies in each encounter are typically grouped together in close proximity to one another. The best Warlock Solar 3.0 build in Destiny 2with Starfire Protocol also works well in these situations because any damage that has been done in an Empowering Rift or Well of Radiance will quickly replenish Grenade Energy.

By equipping the Touch of Flame Aspect as well, Solar Warlocks will see their Fusion Grenades explode twice. With the seasonal Solar Fulmination mod equipped, any ignition explosions will also deal increased damage in an increased radius. By combining this effect with the Ember of Ashes and Ember of Wonder Fragments, Solar Warlocks will be able to provide more Orbs of Power for their allies throughout The Corrupted Grandmaster Nightfall as well. Once the final boss encounter begins, the Well of Radiance will also provide additional protection and damage for the fireteam as long as they stand in it, making any Solar Warlock the perfect mix of medic and grenadier for this Grandmaster.

A Void 3.0 Hunter build in Destiny 2is an option that Guardians should consider forThe Corrupted, despite the survivability of Solar 3.0 builds. There are several instances where having the ability to become invisible and turning teammates invisible will be invaluable. For example, when the Taken orb needs to be grabbed and thrown to other members of the fireteam, an invisible Hunter will have a much easier time grabbing the orb and avoiding fire from the final boss than either of the other two classes of Guardians.

Destiny 2: The BestWeapons (& Exotic Armor) To Use In The Corrupted GM

Destiny 2: How to Beat The Corrupted GM Nightfall (2)

The Corrupted has a unique mission modifier that provides a 25% damage buff to Arc weapons, and because the Overload Trace Rifles mod is part of theSeason of the Haunted the Divinity Trace Rifle is an option that players should consider using in The Corrupted. The Osteo Striga Exotic SMGis also another great option to use for any Guardian that chooses not to use Divinity, specifically because of its Toxic Overload perk that spreads poison to nearby enemies. Additionally, a Stasis Warlock may want to use a Krait with Headstone over Osteo Striga for the additional Stasis shards that can be generated when the perk activates near other combatants causing them to freeze.

Because of their unique loadouts, either the Void Hunter or Stasis Warlock should use Divinity during The Corrupted. A Void Hunter using Divinity would have the benefit of being able to stay back with a Kinetic Scout Rifle of their choosing, while the Stasis Warlock may find it beneficial to run Divinity and a Perses-D, specifically. This Stasis Scout Rifle can also have the Headstone perk, which is why it fits the Divinity/Stasis Warlock build well. Lastly, the Ager's Scepter Exotic Trace Rifle is another excellentweapon for Stasis Warlocks to use during The Corrupted because of its ability to deal with Overload Champions and quickly dispose of enemy mobs.

Any Solar Titans used in The Corrupted should strongly consider sticking to Osteo Striga for a Kinetic weapon and either Pointed Inquiry or Staccato-46 with Adaptive Munitions as their energy weapon. Ideally, at least two Guardians will be running this loadout, but the specific roles of the Void and Stasis Warlock suit them best for utility roles over general purpose weapons. However, the benefit of a Titan running both of these weapons is that they'll never run out of ammo to deal with Champions, whereas Trace Rifles have limited ammunition reserves. Lastly, all three classes should be using the Stormchaser Linear Fusion Rifle god rollas the final boss is highly vulnerable to critical damage in addition to the 25% boost to Arc weapons.
