I think it's a good idea to keep your target audience in mind, as well, when choosing graphics. What images will be most appealing to them - to grab their attention and entice them to read/view the entire infographic. You don't want people in your target market to dismiss your infographic out of the gate because the graphics appear to be targeting a different audience.

Your font is your greatest asset in any infographic, having a legible but eye catching font can make or break your design. With infographics, it's important to have a simple and legible font as you want to convey the information properly, but not let it be distracting. Readers can be lost if your font is too heavy on it's design, so choosing something simple is your best route. Sticking to one font is best for legibility as well, however bolding, italicizing, or underlining certain areas can help bring attention to more important titles or information.
