Eventually, you come upon a room where your accompanying NPC tells you to search for the crown. Attack the seemingly lifeless undead on the throne to see it come back to life! This Draugr Scourge will be reanimated along with Wights. Once the Scourge and his friends are defeated, loot the Jagged Crown from the corpse.

By taking the Jagged Crown to the other faction's leader, General Tullius or Ulfric Stormcloak, they'll forgive the Dragonborn for working for the other faction and allow them to switch sides.

Keeping the crown

The Jagged Crown can be kept by reverse-pickpocketing it to either Hadvar or Ralof, after the crown is collected but before the quest is completed. Although the chance of success will show as zero percent, it is still possible to pickpocket successfully.

You can still switch sides by taking the crown to Ulfric Stormcloak and joining them. Even if the crown is given to Ulfric, the journal will still say you gave it to Tullius. Even if you do not kill the Stormcloaks outside Korvanjund, they will be dead once you have cleared the ruins.

It's a quest item. The value of 5000 doesn't really mean anything. Quest items can not be sold. In order to get the tag off of it, you'd need to do the pickpocket glitch with Ralof to get it back, in which case you can then sell it without penalty.

Though possession of the crown would not directly confer kingship on its holder, it is an ancient relic that has served as a symbol of leadership and power for kings and queens of Skyrim since the First Era. This helmet has a base armor rating of 23, which is equal to the Daedric helmet.

Pick Imperial if you want to play a character who is originally from a place aside from Skyrim, as it doesn't make sense to fight under a banner that ultimately won't accept you. Pick Stormcloak if you believe the Empire has no right to say what Skyrim denizens can and can't do, especially if you are a Nord.

even if you chose a side you can be sneaky and switch sides by giving the crown to the opposite group that you originally sided with. For example if you are supposed to give the grown to Ulfric you can instead choose to give it to Tullius and then continue with the legion quests as if you started with them.

Your character can get married in the game but no explicit sex is shown. If you sleep in your home shared with your spouse (implied off-screen sex), you receive a "Lover's Comfort" bonus for a limited time. Players can have their character in their underwear.

Luckily, players who wish to ignore Skyrim's Civil War without choosing the Stormcloaks or Imperials can do so without affecting the main story. Outside of the truce negotiated in "Season Unending", the actual state of the war has no bearing on the Dragonborn's quest to defeat Alduin.

Ulfric is marriable and can be a follower. Compatible with Hearthfire but doesn't require it. All your life is a struggle for freedom. All your deeds are for Skyrim.

Once Ulfric is defeated, he will request that the Dragonborn be the one to kill him, as it would "make for a better song," although the Dragonborn can refuse and allow General Tullius to strike the final blow.

You CAN switch sides during the civil war quest line. Early on you have to go into a nordic ruin and retrieve an ancient artifact and bring it to your faction leader. You can instead take it to the faction leader for the opposite side and doing that will let you join them.

The Jagged Crown rests on a stand beside her throne, a powerful symbol...but a true Nord would wear it proudly upon her head. Don't Sell Enchanted Items

While enchanted items are often very valuable - and sell for quite a lot, those who want to enchant their own Weapons and Armor should refrain from selling enchanted items when they can be disenchanted instead.

While the Jagged Crown is in the possession of the Dragonborn, they can also decide to travel to the capital city of the opposition to hand over the crown to either General Tullius in Solitude or Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak in Windhelm.

Offer the crown to the pretender of your choice.

After joining the Bards College, Inge will offer the Dragonborn the chance to help her find it, thus adding the quest to their journal. Whether or not they have the quest, Finn's Lute can be returned to her for +1 to all Thief skills, thus making it a highly valuable item to obtain.

It is advised to keep the Sheogorath-Shaped Amber cause it can be used to create the Spell Tome: Conjure Staada; but no matter what choice you make, replica recipes for all four items will unlock after completing the quest. Giving up the Amber or the Sword is the only way to acquire the original Helmet.
